Ormond B Garland

Ormond B. Garland of Orleans, VT, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2015 in Newport. He was born on July 21, 1937 to Seth and Mabel (Moore) Garland.

On September 5, 1959 he married Elizabeth White who survives him. He received his GED in 1972 from Lake Region Union High School. He was a machinist at the Ethan-Allen Furniture Manufacturing in Orleans for 43 years. He was Past Master for the Orleans Lodge # 106 F & AM, a member of the Orleans Fire Department and the Orleans EMT. He was also a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Orleans. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, listening to country music and he especially enjoyed attending family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Garland of Orleans, VT, by his sons: Douglas James Garland and his fiancé Julie Fortin of Derby Line, VT, and David William Garland and his wife Danniella of Eugene, OR. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, by his brother-in-laws: Stanley and Beverly Davis of Derby, VT, David and Jackie Gray of Morgan, VT, James and Helen White of Barton, VT, and Jackson Allen of West Charleston, VT. He was predeceased by an infant son Denis Leroy Garland.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Orleans where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Timothy Naples. Friends may call at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Wednesday December 23, 2015. Spring interment in St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery.
