Obituary

Henry L. Swift, Jr. better known as Tommy, age 81, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on October 4, 1934 in Denver, Colorado. He joined the United States Army in 1951 and served his country for 20 years earning many distinguished honors and awards. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him the Purple Heart. After his years of military service, he worked at Whiting Field & Tyndall Air Force Base where he retired after 20 years. He was an avid wood craftsman and enjoyed making things for his family. He fought for nearly 3 years with cancer, but it never stopped his love for wood work or making a trip to the casino. He was very blessed to have Dr. Jamal Joudeh and the cancer team at the Woodlands taking care of him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ellen & Henry L. Swift, Sr. and sisters, Betty Johnson & Donna Gurney. Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Annelle; children, Patricia Foster, Glen (Diane) Gilmore, Judy (David) Hinote, Diane (Richard) Hardy; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, Jackie (Walt) Sly & Debbie (Mike) Barnes.

Trahan Family Funeral Home, 6539 Trammel Dr., Milton, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 p.m. until memorial service begins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the funeral home.
