Obituary

Consetta (“Connie”) Naomi Sowell finished her days work here on earth on January 7, 2016. Connie was born on May 2, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to her late parents, Embie and Ethel Bostic.

She attended East Technical High School, Tri-C Community College, Cleveland University, and Oxnard College.

Connie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

In 1980, Connie followed the love of her life, William (“Bill”) Sowell, to Camarillo, California. They were married on January 7, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Early the morning of her homegoing, Connie was able to tell Bill she loved him and wish him a Happy Anniversary in celebration of 35 years together.

Upon arriving in Camarillo, Connie was employed by Camarillo State Hospital as a phlebotomist. Connie worked at Camarillo State Hospital for 18 years. With the closing of the hospital, Connie returned to school, attending Oxnard College where she would earn a certificate in Childhood Development. Upon completion of her Childhood Development Certificate, Connie became employed by United Methodist Child Development. She would remain there until no longer able to work.

Connie had a beautiful, bright smile that lit up the room. Her mission in life was to be an uplifting force to all who crossed her path. Connie Sowell will be remembered as a beautiful, caring and devoted wife. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, and soul. Her tremendous faith helped her to cope with her debilitating illness and to be able to persevere on a daily basis. She also loved her family and the many friends whom God placed in her life throughout the years.

Connie is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, William (“Bill”) Sowell of Camarillo, California, her siblings: Bonnetta Dudley (Leon) of South Euclid, Ohio, Embie Bostic (Janice) of Bedford Heights, Ohio, Drewsilla Thorne (Chris) of Maplewood, New Jersey, Errol Bostic of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lynnette Miller (Allen) of Garfield Heights, Ohio.
