Sherry Lynette Lang
April 04 1944 - January 27 2016 - Age 71
Obituary

Our beloved Sherry Lynette Lang passed away on January 27 at the age of 71. She was born in Jetmore, Kansas to Hollis and Jesse Hunt on April 4, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ray Hunt.

Her father was in the military and stationed in Lompoc in 1958. Sherry graduated from Lompoc High School in 1962, the last class at the original Lompoc High on N street. She met her future husband Lawrence Lang, who was stationed at Camp Cook, at the Lompoc Church of Christ shortly after graduation, and they were married on October 5th, 1963.

Sherry was very creative. She loved scrapbooking, sewing, cooking, baking, knitting, taking pictures, and making banners for her grandchildren's sports teams. Sherry delighted in being a homemaker and caring for her children. Eventually, when her children David and Celeste were in middle school, she returned to work. She was an avid typist at over 100 words per minute. It was not difficult for her to get a secretarial job on base at United Technologies.

Sherry was a dedicated member of the Lompoc Church of Christ for 55 years. She was a very active member who participated in women’s committees and children’s Bible study. Sherry’s unfaltering faith and dedication to Christ remained strong until her death.

After Sherry and Larry’s retirement, they followed their dream of exploring the United States in their motor home. This was the highlight of their lives. They met many new people and visited old friends and family along the way. Eventually, they returned to Lompoc to settle down and be near their grandchildren.

Sherry is survived by her husband Larry, son, David Lang (Marissa

Christenson) of Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter, Celeste Pico (Steven) of Lompoc, grandchildren, Steven Pico Jr., Isaiah Pico, Mayah Pico, Damien Lang, Atticus Lang, and Everett Lang. Sherry is also survived by her brother Roy Hunt (Debbie) of Lafayette, Colorado.

A Memorial service will be held at Lompoc Church of Christ, 138 North “O” Street on Tuesday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. A private service for the family will be held at a future date.

The family would like to thank Lompoc Skilled and Rehabilitation, Lompoc Valley Medical Center, Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, and the Church of Christ.

Sherry’s smile and presence have left a lasting imprint on all the lives that she touched. She is loved and missed by all who knew her.
