Obituary

Mr. Donald Arthur Monk, died Friday afternoon (May 20, 2016) at his residence in Waycross following an extended illness.

He was born in St. Augustine, FL but had resided in Waycross most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Okefenokee Printing Shop for many years and later retired from Yarbrough Bros. Printing. He visited Bible Baptist Church of Waycross but once he became homebound, he and his wife chose Fruit Cove Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL via live stream. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Monk was a son of the late Roy Dell Monk, Sr. and Laura Agnes Stratton Monk. He was married to the late Lenora Jean Henderson Monk, who he lovingly referred to as "Monkey". He was also preceded in death by two brothers, David Monk and Roy Dell Monk, Jr.; and a sister, Virginia Davis.

He is survived by five daughters, Becky Miller of Brunswick, Donna Monk of Waycross, Karen Skinner (Wade) of Live Oak, FL, Tina Newman (Patrick) of Jacksonville, FL, and Kim Herrin (Josh) of Blackshear; two step-daughters, Teresa Tanner (Bob) of Blackshear and Terry Harrell (Allen) of Jacksonville, FL; a step-son, Steve Thornton (Chrisie) of Blackshear; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Monk of Jacksonville, FL, and Marshall Monk of Waycross; a sister, Merle Rewis of Crescent City, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald's final wishes were for everyone to PLEASE VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP!

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 24, 2016) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock and also on Tuesday from 2 until 3 o'clock.
