Carl Vincent Contrino

Carl Vincent Contrino died unexpectedly on July 19, 2017. He was 69 years old.

Carl loved music and played in numerous bands in his youth, including notable bands like “Trey and the Diamonds”, “Fragile” and “Kotten”. He was an accomplished musician who played the saxophone and trumpet, plus had amazing vocal talent. Although Carl relocated to Houston Texas in his later years, he was born and raised in Maryland where he graduated from Glen Burnie High school, class of ’65. While a student athlete at Glen Burnie High he held the high jump record for numerous years. Carl was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, the 65 Roses Sports Club and the Sons of Italy in Baltimore. In addition to his artistic and athletic talents, Carl was an excellent cook, most noted for his many gourmet pasta dishes, many of which he invented.

Carl is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Sheffer, and his father, Angelo Contrino. He is survived by his partner of almost 20 years Katie Bennett; his four children, daughter Andrea Romano (Pasquale), son Carl Contrino Jr (Tracy), daughter Aubrey Crane (Bryan), son Christopher (Patricia); brothers Angelo Jr (Mary), David (Magaly), and Paul (Terry). Carl had thirteen nieces and nephews, and fourteen grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 4, at 12:30 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Dunkirk, MD at 12:30pm. A private reception will follow for family.
