Charles (Sarge) Lee Hackney

Charles Lee Hackney of Houston, Texas, was born on November 8, 1923 in Melissa, Texas to the late Willie Mae Claycomb Hackney and the late Juttie Arnold Hackney. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 94 on the evening of October 16, 2018 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorthy Latham, and his brothers, J.A., Bobby, Bill and Freddy Hackney. He is survived by his brother, Tommy Hackney of Leonard, TX and his sister, Sally Langley of Allen, TX. Daughters, Deborah Williams, Susan Hackney and Penny Covert and sons, Gary Hackney and Kenny Hackney. His family also included 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren all from Houston and surrounding areas. He also leaves behind his family dog, Mr. Whiskers. Sarge served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1941-1967 and served in WWII and The Korean War. After Sarge retired, he continued his love of golfing, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all and forever in our hearts. Friends and family can pay their respects at the military graveside service on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1:45 P.M. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038. Celebration of his Life will take place on Saturday, October 27,2018 at 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Double Ts Bar & Grill, 14933 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, TX 77083.
